Mike McNair wanted to be so cool
I saw this little kid with a cardigan on
and i never would have believed it

Mike always came up and talked to me
and he wanted to know my ideas
but this was high school i had my rep to maintain
so i rejected him and his love

fast forward a year Kurdt is dead
and Greg took control of my music
but mike still was asking me
how to use it

I treated him bad
i never got to know
the inside of his persona
all that he projected
was a mirror image of myself
i never took the time to look thru

fast forward another year
a new band called the hornbuckles
mike went to practices
but he never talked to me
he never talked to me

finally i found myself eating dinner
in his house
after my life had fallen apart
mike was still mike
but mine rotted away

i think i'd like to get to know him
